Hey friends,
Episode 7 of Unpacking Live got a little nostalgic, a little steamy, and honestly, a little emotional.
Joe and I dove into the summers of our youth; those hot, confusing, unforgettable days of early crushes, awkward longings, and figuring out who we were long before we had the words for it. From lifeguards with golden tans and Egyptian tattoos to volleyball boys on the beach, we shared memories that a lot of gay men can relate to. Those moments that felt like everything and nothing all at once.

But it wasn’t all sunshine and thirst. We also talked about what it means to experience joy in a world that often feels heavy. Political chaos, fear, violence; sometimes it feels like we shouldn’t be allowed to celebrate anything. But here’s the truth: queer joy is resistance. You still deserve a vacation. You still deserve to feel good in your body, show off those daddy legs, and wear the damn short shorts.
There was laughter (especially when I tried to say “beach” with my accent), and there were some really tender moments, too.
