August is the last real month of summer. September is already reaching for a jacket. So this is it, and I don't want to see another living room.
Get out. Hotel balcony, campsite, rental car, rest stop, the deck of a ferry, a friend's kitchen three states away, Ptown, Fire Island, your sister's above-ground pool in Ohio. If you're going somewhere this month, take the shirt and take the photo while you're there.
And if you're not going anywhere, you still qualify. Out of Office is a state of mind before it's a zip code. That walk you decided to take the other night. The morning you drove forty minutes to a diner for no reason. Nobody's checking your boarding pass.
