Hunky Tops Talk Ep. 4: Gay in Denial at Catholic School

In this episode of Hunky Tops Talk, I open up about what it was really like to grow up gay in denial at a Catholic boys’ school in Chile during the 80s and 90s.

From the sameness of school uniforms and the routines of the classroom, to recess games like espiribol (tetherball) and my favorite subjects, this episode dives into how those years shaped me — and how denial became a kind of shield until I was ready to embrace who I really am.

I also share stories about early crushes, the quiet bonds with classmates (many of whom later came out too), and why those experiences connect directly to what I’m building now with Hunky Tops: a space for visibility, community, and pride.

💬 I’d love to hear your stories, too. Did you ever wear a uniform growing up? Did it make you feel like you belonged, or like you disappeared? Drop your answer in the comments on YouTube — I’ll be reading them all.
